April's Resin Ball-Jointed Dolls
SCARLETT'S GALLERY

The Korean BJD Show was held for the first (only?) time in Los Angeles on April 24-26, 2014. It was a fantastic event with 8 Korean BJD Companies and 11 US vendors--mostly artists, designers, sculptors. There were workshops run by various companies-- faceups, face sculpting, wig-making, and panels and special interests/mini-meets, an good-sized sellers room and Opening and Closing Banquets, with each company hosting a table that would have One-Off dolls that were for sale.

I had looked over the pictures of the dolls that were posted and was sure I was safe from spending gobs of money and acquiring yet another doll. I picked the Crobidoll table for the Opening Banquet because I thought they did a wonderful job on their Movie Themed, Gone With The Wind-inspired One-Offs. I thought their Scarlett was exquisite, but I'm more of a Boy Dolly person, so I figured I was safe. I'd just meet the Crobi people and get to stare at lovely dolls and have a nice dinner. And that's what I did... and the next day I went to the Sellers Room and was fine, even though there were tons and tons of amazing dolls. OK, I did buy a Marbled Halls tiny anthro. But no big dolls (which comprised the majority)... Lasted through the next day up until the Room was going to shut down for good. Scarlett and Rhett had not sold and were on display. It was driving me crazy. Even Rhett was starting to look fantastic. Right before I had to run off to the Iplehouse Interest Group I was supposedly hosting (ha! I am so irresponsible--I was late and didn't do anything at all for it), I bought Scarlett.

*sigh*

I don't even know why I pretend I'm not well on the way to being a doll-hoarder!

So lovely...

Rhett lounging with Scarlett behind him.

Not having sold at the Banquet, they were set up in the Sellers Room... looking delightful. But too expensive... and I wouldn't want to break such a pair up! But then someone pointed out that they split up in the book and film...

Rare thing: Shopping bag and no shipping carton!

And the doll box fit EXACTLY. (I had trouble getting it out.)

Lovely presentation... Just a bow, but so nice.

Outfit, all packed up. Wig. And zipped pillow-bag.

Outfit, unbagged. Hat and jewelry in bag on left, Dress, petticoats, underskirt, belt and reticule.

Came with 2 booklets with the KBJD Show Dolls and other photos, and one informational booklet on stringing, etc.

Inside the zipped pillow-bag, doll, mummified in bubble-wrap. I'd say they did a thorough job of packing her up.

Flat feet--the lower legs are included because they have the ankle joint--but the high-heeled feet do NOT have ankle joints. DoA requires ankle joints for their On-Topic dolls...

Unwrapped... she still has her bloomers on. Nice. I don't see that often in Box Openings.

Close-up of faceup.

The clothes had "Crobi" labels sewn in.

Crinoline and skirt.

Crobi label in shoes, earrings, reticule, hat.

Nice earrings. They had spring hoops and fit perfectly into the hollow of her ears--which looks just fine unless you get a super-detailed close-up. Held in very securely, but not tightly, so that it rubbed.

Hat on... I need to make sure it's adjusted so it sit more closely to her head.

She just naturally has this graceful, serene look...
